Card Briefs: CoreStates Signs Up With NYCE Network

NYCE Corp., the automated teller machine network, announced that CoreStates Financial Corp., founder of the rival MAC network, has become a NYCE member. Services will begin in June.

Philadelphia-based CoreStates recently received regulatory approval to merge with Meridian Bancorp of Reading, Pa., which is already a NYCE member.

Separately, at its recent conference in Boston, NYCE announced it will provide ATM processing services to Citizens Financial Group of Rhode Island, with 370 ATMs.

The deal will enhance Citizens' ATM capabilities, adding functions such as ministatements, on-line loan payments, and coupon or stamp dispensing.

NYCE will also provide on-line authorization processing and off-line debit access services.

NYCE also said it has chosen software developed by Applied Communications Inc. to drive its proprietary home banking and bill-payment services platform, introduced at the end of 1995.
