Card Briefs: Court Reversal Strengthens Ideon's Case

Ideon Group Inc., the parent of SafeCard Services, said that the Wyoming Supreme Court has reversed a trial court's dismissal of its insider trading claims against former chief executive Peter Halmos.

According to Ideon, the higher court held that whether Mr. Halmos dominated the board of directors and engaged in wrongful self-dealing are questions of fact that must be submitted to a jury.

It further held, Ideon said, that the trial court erred in concluding that "the doctrine of adverse domination did not apply, and in not applying Delaware's law which treats wrongful self-dealing as a mechanism that stops the statute of limitations from running."
