Card Briefs: Cybercash Upgrades Web Payment Software

Cybercash Inc. said it has finished the upgrade of its electronic payment software for Microsoft Corp.'s Site Server, Commerce Edition.

The enhanced Internet payment software includes new security measures and makes it easier for developers to integrate settlement of transactions into back-end processing systems.

"In the end, merchants will find it easier to set up and operate Web- based storefronts and collect money for the goods and services they sell," said Nancy Goldberg, senior vice president of Cybercash. "Using the Cybercash payment component is the easiest way to link a credit card payment to completion of a purchase transaction."

Cybercash was the first Internet payment service to support Site Server, in 1996.

"A significant number of existing Site Server, Commerce Edition customers have turned to Cybercash to provide on-line payment technologies," said Anthony Bay, general manager of Microsoft's commercial systems division.
