Card Briefs: Daiichi Kangyo to Issue Visa Cards Directly

Daiichi Kangyo Bank has become the first bank in Japan to join Visa International as a card-issuing member, Visa said.

Banks in Japan have issued Visa and other payment cards indirectly through their subsidiary credit card companies, which are Visa members.

Daiichi Kangyo Bank will start by carrying the Visa Plus mark on its automated teller machine cards. They'll be the first ever issued in in Japan with international ATM access, Visa said.
