Card Briefs: Discover to Discontinue 2 Celebrity Art Cards

Dean Witter, Discover & Co. said it will discontinue the use of two celebrity paintings on its Private Issue credit cards on June 13.

The company would not specify which of the three celebrity art works it will retire. Last year Discover introduced cards bearing paintings by Olympic gold medalist Florence Griffith-Joyner, actress Jane Seymour, and former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr.

The nation's second-largest credit card issuer said it plans to introduce new artists each year and is currently negotiating with other celebrities.

Rates and fees on the cards remain the same.
