Card Briefs: Fifth Third Point of Sale In 210 Walgreen Stores

CINCINNATI - Midwest Payment Systems, the data processing subsidiary of Fifth Third Bancorp, has expanded its point of sale debit processing services to 210 Walgreen drug stores throughout the northeastern United States and Puerto Rico.

The new contract comes after another deal between Midwest Payment and Walgreen, in which Midwest Payment processes point of sale debit transactions for 25 Walgreen drug stories in the Orlando area.

Midwest Payment processes more than 1.46 billion automated teller machine and point of sale transactions annually. Its customer base of more than 11,000 merchants generates more than $13 billion in annual credit card sales. - Compiled by Beth Piskora
