Dominique Trempont, president of Gemplus Americas in Redwood City, Calif., is one of three new members of the board of the smart card systems provider Touch Technology International.
Mr. Trempont, formerly of Next Software Inc., joined Gemplus last year and is the French smart card maker's top-ranking executive for North and South America.
The other new directors are William Foster, founder and chairman of Stratus Computer Inc., and John B. Frieling, founder and managing director of Deerfield Capital, a Boston-based venture fund.
"The technology we developed for CardTouch (a back-office support system) is becoming an important force in the world of closed-environment smart card applications," said Touch Technology president and chief executive officer William C. Hussey. "Dominique and Bill bring the global market perspective that will help drive our future growth, while John can provide expert counsel in financing that growth."
