Card Briefs: Honor Network's Volume Jumped 30% Last Year

Honor Technologies Inc. said its processing volume rose 30% in 1998 to a record 1.3 billion transactions.

The regional electronic funds transfer network also set a new mark for point of sale transactions, up 43% to 342 million.

More automated teller and point of sale locations "contributed to the extraordinary volume recorded for 1998," said Thomas O. Bennion, president and chief executive officer.

Honor said it hit a daily peak of 4.2 million transactions on Dec. 24.

Honor is scheduled to merge with San Diego-based Star System Inc. on March 1.
