Card Briefs: IBAA Web Site Lists Surcharge-Free ATMs

The Independent Bankers Association of America has posted on its Web site a searchable list of more than 1,000 surcharge-free automated teller machines owned by community banks in 46 states.

The 5,500-member IBAA opposes federal legislation to ban surcharges but wants to make consumers aware of what community banks are doing to keep fees down.

"In this era of big-bank mergers and higher fees, IBAA's list of surcharge-free ATMs lets consumers know that there really are options," said IBAA president Bill McQuillan, president and chief executive officer of City National Bank in Greeley, Neb.
