Card Briefs: MasterCard POSUnit's Chief to Join New Owner

Heidi R. Goff, head of MasterCard's automated point of sale program, or MAPP, will join Global Payment Systems, the new National Data Corp. business unit that recently absorbed the association's card processing division.

Ms. Goff, 48, who was named executive vice president-strategy and product line management, will remain in Purchase, N.Y., and will assume her new post April 1.

She will manage the new business' product line, lead its long-term strategic development, and oversee new business development.

Global Payment Systems will operate as an independent third-party processor, but MasterCard will own a minority stake in the company. The new unit will merge the processing businesses of both companies, making it more competitive to First Data Corp. and other large third-party processors.
