Card Briefs: MasterCard Reports Point of Sale Growth

NEW YORK - The MasterCard Automated Point of Sale Program, which provides merchant processing services, reported significant growth in the first six months.

MasterCard reported that transactions grew by 35% over the same period a year earlier. Credit transactions increased by 34%, said the card association, which also reported the number of credit terminals the program services grew by 17%, to 363,000.

In the first six months, MasterCard sold more than 2,800 copies of its MAPP-PC software, which was introduced in 1990. The software is an authorization and electronic draft capture program.
