Card briefs: Midwest Payment Gets Ill. Bank EFT Contract

Midwest Payment Systems has signed a contract to provide electronic funds transfer services to Elizabeth State Bank, a one-branch institution based in Illinois.

Under the terms of the agreement, the $52 million-asset bank also joins Midwest Payment's Jeanie network of more than 1,200 automated teller machines.

Midwest Payment will also provide processing services so that Elizabeth State customers can use ATMs in Visa's Plus network.

Midwest Payment, a subsidiary of Fifth Third Bancorp, processed over 1.62 billion ATM and point of sale transactions in 1995 for 1,100 financial institutions and 13,000 merchants. - Compiled by Beth Piskora
