Card Briefs: New Jersey Consultant Founds Specialty Firm

The consulting firm Carmody & Bloom has formed a new specialty company, Alliast LLC, for the financial services software industry.

Alliast provides product development and marketing and sales support for emerging businesses, its founders said. Its first client is Infolynx Inc., a software development company in Iselin, N.J., for which Alliast will help introduce a back-office network automation system.

Alliast is owned by the three Carmody & Bloom principals, Liam Carmody, Stuart Bloom, and Alan Pohlman. Their electronic banking consulting firm has been in business since 1981.

"We frequently encounter new companies - or new ideas in existing companies - that have exciting potential," Mr. Carmody said. "All too often, the entrepreneurs who have created revolutionary solutions aren't able to effectively realize the marketing and sales opportunities in our industry."

Elizabeth Taylor Quilliam, a former NYCE Corp. executive, as was Mr. Pohlman, has joined as Alliast's vice president of marketing and sales.
