Card Briefs: Pulse Backs Debit Anti-Fraud Service

Pulse EFT Association said it has become a sponsor of Card Alert Services Inc., a software company that provides fraud detection for debit card portfolios. The service is designed to detect a large compromise of cards and personal identification numbers before it results in major fraud losses.

Card Alert, based in Arlington, Va., started offering the service last year. The company's president is Douglas D. Anderson, former chief executive officer of the MAC network. Other networks and banks sponsoring the service include Cash Station Inc. and BankAmerica Corp.
