Card Briefs: Record for June Boosts Magic Line Transactions

Magic Line Inc., the regional automated teller machine network, reported record growth for the first half of 1996, led by a record 10.1 million total transactions in June, up 1.1 million from June 1995.

Point of sale transactions for the first half of 1996 grew to 1,762,000, 143% more than in first half of 1995.

Total transactions grew 16.4% for the first half of 1996, to 55.3 million.

Magic Line supports 8.3 million cardholders with access to more than 99,000 ATM, point of sale, and home banking terminals.

Separately, Magic Line Inc. said it hired Jeffrey D. Case as regional account manager for western and upper Michigan. He will oversee member development, new products and services education and implementation support, and overall market development and support.

Before joining Magic Line, Mr. Case was a corporate cash management officer with First of America Bank Corp. He developed cash management strategies for more than 100 corporate accounts.
