Card Briefs: Scan Check System Remarketers Up 15-Fold

BOTHELL, Wash. - Electronic Transaction Corp.'s Scan check authorization service now has over 15 remarketers. A year ago, First National Bank of Omaha became the first in the program.

The company started the sales-agent effort to broaden the Scan data base, which was started only for the benefit of large retailers. The network authorized 1.6 billion checks worth $105 billion in 1994.

Current remarketers include U.S. National Bank of Portland, Ore.; Barnett Banks Inc., Jacksonville, Fla.; Gensar of Tampa; Novus Services Inc., Riverwood, Ill.; Independent Credit Card Association, Palm Springs, Calif.; Financial Alliance of Louisville, Ky.; Concord EFS, Memphis; First Premier Bank of Scottsdale, Ariz.; Nova Information Systems, Atlanta; and Michigan National Bank of Lansing.
