Card Briefs: SPS Payment Buys Med-Link Technologies

RIVERWOODS, Ill. - SPS Payment Systems Inc. has acquired Med-Link Technologies Inc., a provider of software and electronic claims processing services to the health care industry.

Med-Link's software works with a health care provider's practice management system, reformatting patient information and diagnoses to fit the differing requirements of each insurer. This enables them to receive clinical and financial data electronically without having to modify their computer systems.

Med-Link's services include eligibility verification and the electronic capture, transfer, and analysis of health care data, including claims.

"This acquisition fits strategically with (our) plans to expand services to the health care industry and complements the credit card authorization, billing, and funding services we currently offer through our MedCash Health Systems partnership," said Robert L. Wieseneck, president of SPS.
