Card Briefs: Verifone Promotes Three Senior Execs

Verifone Inc., a point-of-sale marketer, announced three executive changes effective in July.

William G. Barmeier, 43, who joined Verifone in 1993, was promoted to senior vice president, general counsel, and secretary. He reports to president and chief executive Hatim A. Tyabji.

Mr. Barmeier was vice president, general counsel, and secretary for Verifone. Before that, he worked in a private law firm in San Francisco.

Joseph Zaelit, 51, formerly vice president and chief financial officer, was elevated to the senior vice president level, reporting to Mr. Tyabji. Mr. Zaelit joined Verifone in 1993 after 20 years at Hewlett-Packard Co.

Corporate controller Eldon Bullington, 45, received the additional title of vice president. He reports to Mr. Zaelit. Mr. Bullington joined Verifone in 1995 after working for Radius Inc. and Rolm/IBM.
