Visa cards will be accepted for cash advances at hundreds of Korean automated teller machines, Visa International has announced.

The San Francisco-based card association said 530 machines have been added to the 14-machine Visa Plus network in South Korea.

The new ATMs are in major cities - 439 in Seoul, 60 in Pusan, 23 in Taejon, and eight in Taegu. They are located in convenience stores, department stores, subway and railway stations, hotels, and airports.

Visa has also added 67 ATMs to its Plus network in Japan to prepare for the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano.
