Card Briefs: Visa, NFL Join in Deal For Foreign Marketing

Visa has signed a marketing deal with National Football League International. The agreement, which expires March 21, 1999, grants Visa exclusive card-category rights to use the logos, names, and colors of the NFL and its teams in the payment card category in Mexico and Japan, which play host to pre-season American football games.

Visa U.S.A. has held domestic NFL sponsorship rights since 1995 and that agreement has been extended through March 31, 2000.

The company will use the slogan "NFL Prefers Visa" in Japan and Mexico, said Rebecca Saeger, executive vice president, brand management, Visa U.S.A.
