handheld personal identification number pad for debit applications, and a desktop card personalization system for magnetic stripe and smart card applications. DataCard said the new PIN pad, called the 290E, is compatible with most electronic cash registers, transaction terminals, and PC-based registers. The 290E also features an optional privacy shield, which allows customers to enter their PIN without fear of having them stolen. Other security features include a secure microprocessor, a tamper switch, sealed housing, and an optional tamper grid. These features are designed to minimize the possibility that keys or data could be stolen, changed, or misused. The DataCard Ultragrafix 285 card personalization system with thermal print module can print logos, text, bar codes, photos, and other graphic elements directly on plastic cards in a single-pass operation. By adding an optional module, users can encode magnetic stripes or personalize smart card chips as part of the in-line process. Other key features for the new DataCard Ultragrafix 285 card personalization system include card previewing, password access, automatic card feed, and choice of ribbon colors.
