Carolina First to Get Myrtle Beach Branches
GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Carolina First Corp. said it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire First Savings Bank's four offices in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
The offices serve a fast-growing market and have $35 million in deposits, said Mack I. Whittle Jr., president and chief executive officer of Carolina First. The Greenville-based company has $348 million of assets and two thrift subsidiaries, Carolina First Bank and First Federal Savings and Loan of George-town.
Terms of the branch sale were not disclosed. It has been approved by the respective boards of directors and awaits regulatory approvals.
