Carver Bancorp Names Executive

MIDDLE ATLANTIC

Carver Bancorp, New York, has hired Loretta Smith as director of marketing, a newly created position.

Ms. Smith was the director of marketing for C. Ottley Strategies, responsible for coordinating advertising for the community development and commercial and professional banking/emerging markets groups at Chase Manhattan Bank. Before that, she was a sales account manager at Chemical Bank's retail banking division.

In addition, the bank promoted six executives.

Howard R. Dabney, chief lending officer, and Raymond L. Bruce, corporate counsel/corporate secretary, were promoted from vice president to senior vice president.

Guy Brea, a branch coordinator, and Walter T. Bond, an investment officer, were promoted to vice president from assistant vice president.

Named assistant vice presidents were Valli Sheppard-Bess, director of human resources, and Chester Brower, commercial lending.

Carver Bancorp is the holding company for Carver Federal Savings Bank.
