NEW YORK -- Chase Manhattan Corp. named William H. Goefling chairman and chief executive of Chase Lincoln First Bank.
Mr. Goefling, a 21-year Chase veteran, will be responsible for a 110-branch operation based in Rochester, N.Y. He was formerly region executive for Long Island.
Kevin G. Byrnes, president and chief executive of Chase Bank of Maryland, was transferred to the Long Island unit, which has 45 branches.
The top five banks and thrifts have combined total assets of nearly $13 trillion.
