NEW YORK -- Citicorp said it is offering an international funds-transfer service for Vietnamese-Americans in California.
The service, geared for people sending money to relatives in their homeland, has been available in five New York-area Citibank branches since March. It is being extended to all California branches of Citibank FSB.
The service is not limited to Citibank customers. Up to $300 per household can be transferred in any three-month period.
The Office of the Attorney General in New York says the bank violated the state's Exempt Income Protection Act, illegally transferring customers' money to debt collectors.
