Citigroup Hires Linville as CEO of Card Unit

Citigroup Inc. said Tuesday that it appointed Jud Linville chief executive of its credit card business, succeeding Paul Galant, who was named the CEO of a new unit called Global Enterprise Payments.

Linville had been the president and CEO of American Express Co.'s U.S. Consumer Services operations.

Galant has led Citi Cards since April 2009.

Manuel Medina-Mora, Citi's CEO of consumer banking for the Americas, has been parceling out duties in recent days after eight months on the job. Citi said Monday that it has hired Cecilia Stewart, the former retail chief at Wachovia Corp., to run its U.S. retail bank operations.

Linville will run Citi's North America branded-cards business and work closely with the heads of its regional cards businesses.
