Connecticut Thrift Starts P&C Unit

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - American Savings Bank has established American Insurance Services, a division offering property/casualty insurance.

The thrift already sells life, long-term-care, and disability insurance and annuities.

Through American Insurance Services, customers can get quotes for homeowners, auto, and personal liability coverage at the thrift's 17 branches or over the telephone.

The property/casualty products are offered through a joint marketing agreement with a local insurance agency, Jones, Raphael & Oulundsen Inc.

The thrift's holding company, American Financial Holdings Inc., has $1.9 billion of assets.
