Consumers Lack Confidence in Financial Sector

A nationwide poll shows that consumer confidence in financial industry has fallen to the single digits. Just eight percent of those surveyed by Waggener Edstrom Worldwide and RT Strategies “have full confidence in banks and financial services companies,” according to the pollsters.

“Ironically, at a time when the financial services industry has the most at stake, its communications with consumers and policymakers have descended to a strikingly low level,” according to Toro Neptune, Waggener Edstrom Worldwide senior vice president and global public affairs practice leader. Poll results show that 44 percent of consumers have heard from the industry “but felt more negative after hearing it;” 11% have heard something from the sector and felt better about the industry; and 38 percent “haven’t hadn’t heard directly from the industry at all.”
