Another article on the same page, "With Juniper, Vague Vows to Outclass Wingspan," erred in saying Richard Vague had once supervised Bank One's retail business. He was in charge of all consumer lending for a while but never supervised retail; Kenneth T. Stevens has been chairman and chief executive officer of the Bank One retail group since 1996.
An article on page 1 Friday, "Card Wars Heat Up At Senate Hearing," erred in stating that Visa's bylaw 2.06 - which prevents competing card companies from issuing the Visa brand - is under attack by the Department of Justice. The department's lawsuit challenges Visa's bylaw 2.10e, which prohibits its bank members from issuing brands like American Express and Discover.The same article had an error in a photo caption on page 10. The name of the chairman and chief executive officer of American Express Co. is Harvey Golub.
