A Sept. 1 article about Meridian Bancorp's planned acquisition of United Counties Trust Co. greatly understated the price change in United's stock after the deal was announced. It rose $?.

The article also reported incorrectly that Meridian would receive $12.5 million and an option to purchase 318,000 shares at $1.10. In fact, Meridian would recieve the money or the shares, not both.

An Aug. 30 article about Pennsylvania's dropping a fair-lending case agains Lincoln Savings Bank in Carnegie, Pa., was mistaken in characterizing a $30,000 payment to the state attorney general's office as a fine.

The thrift -- due to be acquired by Integra Financial Corp., Pittsburgh -- made the payment under a settlement that involved no admission of wrongdoing.
