Countrywide's loans set record in August.

PASADENA, Calif. -- Countrywide Credit Industries Inc., the nation's leading mortgage lender said it funded a record $2.8 billion in August 1992, more than triple the $866 million of August 1991.

The company's servicing portfolio, meanwhile, rose to $40.7 billion, from $19.5 billion a year earlier.

Of the August 1992 loan originations, adjustable-rate loans made up $786 million, or 28%. Refinancings climbed to 72% of total fundings, from 43% in August 1991.
