Crestar Financial seeks listing on big board.

RICHMOND, Va. - Crestar Financial Corp. said it has filed an application to list its common shares on the New York Stock Exchange.

Richard G. Tilghman, chairman and chief executive officer, said he expects Big Board trading to begin in late July. The trading symbol would change to CF, from the current CRFC on the Nasdaq system.

Crestar has $12.2 billion in assets and 38 million shares outstanding.
