CU Sign-Ups Brisk for ATM Network

Co-op Financial Services, which operates one of the nation's largest surcharge-free automated teller machine networks for credit unions, enrolled new 68 new credit union members in the third quarter.

Bill Prichard, a spokesman for the Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., company, said that total is more than double the number of credit unions that joined the ATM network in last year's third quarter, though he would not provide the exact figure for the year-earlier period.

The Co-op Financial Services network includes 28,000 surcharge-free ATMs.

Members make their machines available at no cost to one another, and credit unions must have at least one ATM to join, Prichard said.
