Digital Insight Offering Clients Cybercash Wallet

Digital Insight Inc. is providing its 150 financial institution clients the ability to offer Cybercash Inc.'s electronic wallet.

The wallet can be used for payments of less than $25 over the Internet.

APL Federal Credit Union of Laurel, Md., and Community Credit Union of Plano, Tex., are the first Digital Insight clients to incorporate the wallet into their Web sites.

The alliance between Digital Insight of Camarillo, Calif., and Cybercash of Reston, Va., combines the former's real-time home banking system, Axis, with the latter's electronic commerce payment system.

The Axis system allows for Web-based banking functions. The Cybercash system facilitates payments to merchants in real time.

Users of the Cybercash system can load electronic wallets with funds from bank or credit card accounts. The funds can be used for on-line purchases from 25 cents to $25.

"We really liked Cybercash's architecture, convenience, and ease of use of the software," said Todd Brinkmeier, vice president of business development at Digital Insight.

As an extension of their relationship, Digital Insight and Cybercash are working on improving how financial institutions account for transactions involving the wallet.

Mr. Brinkmeier said the joint system has been well received by Digital Insight clients.

"Initially we expect 30 to 40 institutions to go with the service as they look to provide payment systems over the Internet," he said.
