East West Bancorp in San Marino, Calif., hired Kwok-Yin Cheng to succeed recently retired Victor Naramura as senior vice president of international banking at its subsidiary, East West Bank.

Mr. Cheng has 22 years of experience and most recently was general manager of Union Bank of California's Pacific Rim department. Before that he was senior vice president and manager of international services at Manufacturers Bank in Los Angeles, a subsidiary of Sakura Bank Ltd. in Japan.

East West Bancorp has $2 billion of assets. Its East West Bank caters to Chinese-Americans in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Orange, and Santa Clara counties.
