The developer of the w-Trade and w-Bank systems for delivering financial services to wireless communication devices, w-Trade Technologies, has announced a collaboration agreement with the Swedish telecommunications giant Ericsson.

The software vendor, which has more than 20 brokerage firm customers, has become a charter member of the Ericsson Cyberlab NY Developers Network, where it will explore applications for the financial and other industries using hand-held devices.

The alliance has produced a tool kit for subscriber identity modules, which can help extend and personalize services on certain mobile phones.

"Financial services is an important industry for the proliferation of wireless Internet solutions," said Donna Campbell, director of Ericsson Cyberlab NY, which Ericsson established with the New York City Investment Fund.
