NEW ENGLAND

Washington Trust Co. in Westerly, R.I., a subsidiary of Washington Trust Bancorp Inc., has hired Joseph J. MarcAurele as president and chief operating officer of the bank and its parent and elected him to both entities' boards of directors.

MarcAurele had been president of Citizens Bank, R.I., a division of RBS Citizens in Providence, R.I., since 2001.

During his 16 years at Citizens, MarcAurele was chairman, president and chief executive officer of Citizens Bank of Rhode Island and Connecticut.

He was a member of Citizens' executive leadership group and executive committee and oversaw the corporate global restructuring group.

Before Citizens, MarcAurele worked from 1978 to 1985 at Fleet National Bank as senior vice president and director of human resources.

MarcAurele succeeds John F. Treanor, who is to retire in October.

Washington Trust Bancorp has assets of $2.95 billion.


SOUTHEAST

Hampton Roads Bankshares Inc. in Norfolk, Va., has hired John A.B. Davies as its president and chief executive officer and CEO of its Bank of Hampton Roads and Shore Bank.

Davies was also elected to the boards of directors of the company and bank.

He worked for Marathon Organization Ltd., a management consulting company that he started in 2004 after leaving RBC Centura in Rocky Mount, N.C.

He was president of Centura's Virginia market and chairman of its Virginia board from 1999 until 2004 and joined the company when it bought his previous employer, First Coastal Bankshares, in 1999.

He had been president and CEO of First Coastal since 1991 and worked for Virginia National Bank in Norfolk from 1974 to 1991.

Hampton Roads Bankshares has $595 million of assets.


SOUTHWEST

Home BancShares Inc. in Conway, Ark., has promoted C. Randall Sims to chief executive officer.

Sims is to remain president and CEO of the company's Centennial Bank. He has held those jobs and been a director of Home BancShares since 1998. He is also the company's secretary.

Before that Sims was an executive vice president at First National Bank of Conway.

He succeeds John W. Allison, who will remain chairman of the board of directors.

Home BancShares has $2.64 billion of assets.


WEST

Boston Private Financial Holdings Inc. has hired James C. Garvey as president and chief operating officer for its Charter Bank in Bellevue, Wash.

Previously, Garvey had been president and chief executive officer since 1999 of Flagship Bank and Trust in Worcester, Mass., a division of People's United Bank of Bridgeport, Conn.

Before that, he was a senior vice president at TD Banknorth, formerly known as Safety Fund National Bank, in Fitchburg, Mass. He also worked at Shawmut Bank of Boston.

Boston Private has assets of $6.9 billion.


Heritage Oaks Bancorp. in Paso Robles, Calif., has hired Ronald Oliveira as executive vice president, chief operating officer and chief credit officer of its Heritage Oaks Bank.

Oliveira was a senior vice president at Rabobank in El Centro, Calif., a subsidiary of Rabobank Nederland of Utrecht, Netherlands.

Before that, he was the chairman of Equipoint Financial Services in San Diego, a $2 billion-asset real estate banking institution.

Previously, he was senior vice president in the community banking division at Union Bank NA in San Francisco, a subsidiary of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc. of Tokyo.

Heritage Oaks Bancorp. has $860 million of assets.


Riverview Bancorp Inc. in Vancouver, Wash., the parent of Riverview Community Bank, has promoted Kevin Lycklama to executive vice president of the bank and company.

Since 2006, Lycklama has been controller, senior vice president, and chief financial officer of the bank and its parent. Before that, he was an audit manager at an Oregon certified public accounting firm.

Riverview Bancorp has assets of $912 million.
