MIDDLE ATLANTIC

Centre Partners Management LLC, a New York middle-market private equity firm, has hired David L. Jaffe as a managing director. He will start in May.

Mr. Jaffe, 42, was a founding member of DLJ Merchant Banking Partners, then the private equity arm of Donaldson, Lufkin, & Jenrette Inc. He is currently a managing director at DLJ Merchant Banking and a member of its investment committee. (Credit Suisse Group bought Donaldson in November.)

Centre Partners has also given Scott Perekslis, a director of the firm, the title of managing director. His responsibilities have not changed. Mr. Perekslis, 33, joined the firm as an associate 10 years ago.


UBS Warburg in New York has hired Drew J. Doscher and Jeffrey T. Horan as co-heads of its distressed debt business.They report to Christopher Ryan, the global head of banking products.

Mr. Doscher and Mr. Horan were senior vice presidents in distressed securities trading at Lehman Brothers. Mr. Doscher had worked at Lehman for six years and Mr. Horan for seven.


Bear Stearns Cos. in New York has hired Zurich Financial Services Group veteran Elizabeth Ventura as director of investor relations.Ms. Ventura had held the same job at Zurich for two years. Before that she had been the head of investor relations and corporate communications for two Zurich subsidiaries, first for ZC Group and then Zurich Reinsurance Centre. She had worked for Zurich Financial and its subsidiaries for 10 years.

Bear Stearns also named her a managing director.


CIBC World Markets, the New York investment banking subsidiary of Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, has hired Jennifer S. Scutti as an executive director covering the specialty finance and e-finance sectors.Ms. Scutti, 33, held a similar post at Prudential Securities in New York, where she worked for seven years. Before that she had been a junior analyst covering specialty finance and asset management stocks for three years at Lehman Brothers.

She started her securities industry career in 1989 as a research assistant at Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. in New York.


Salomon Smith Barney, the investment banking unit of Citigroup Inc., has hired J. Armand Musey as an analyst covering satellite-communications company stocks.He was also named a director of the firm and reports to Kevin McCaffrey, director of U.S. equity research.

Mr. Musey held a similar job at Banc of America Securities LLC for two years.

SOUTHEAST

Bank of America Corp. of Charlotte, N.C., has hired Bob Sweeney as the investment executive for Nashville, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Springfield, Mo., for its Banc of America Capital Management investment management arm.

He manages a team of nine portfolio managers and works with Bank of America Private Bank clients who have at least $1 million of assets with the firm.

Mr. Sweeney was an executive vice president and the manager of the capital markets division at First American National Bank in Nashville, which Amsouth Bank of Birmingham, Ala., bought last year.

WEST

Fleet Meehan Specialist Inc., a New York subsidiary of FleetBoston Financial Corp., has hired Bruce Krogstad as the vice president of corporate relations and marketing for the West Coast.

He is based in Palo Alto, Calif., and serves the $179 billion-asset firm's West Coast corporate clients. Mr. Krogstad was a managing director in Menlo Park, Calif., with Nasdaq, working with large-capitalization technology companies. Before that he had worked at the old Smith Barney for six years.
