Executive Changes: Capital Bank of N.C. Hires C.B. Mccoy Jr. for Regional Post

Capital Bank in Raleigh, N.C., has hired Christopher B. McCoy Jr. for the newly created post of chief executive officer for the Oxford, N.C., market and the bank's northern region.

Mr. McCoy is to be in charge of all the bank's activities in this region, which includes Granville, Northampton, and Warren counties.

He was senior market manager in Edenton, N.C, for Rocky Mount, N.C.-based Centura Bank, a $9 billion-asset institution where he had worked for 20 years. He has 31 years of banking experience.

Capital Bank is a $31 million-asset subsidiary of Capital Bank Corp.


MIDWESTCole Taylor Bank in Chicago has promoted Harold Chmiel to manager of the community business banking group, a newly created post.

Mr. Chmiel, 49, was a senior vice president in community business banking, which was then part of the corporate lending group. The promotion is part of a reorganization.

He is to report to Joseph A. Kirkeeng, group senior vice president of the community banking division, and will work out of the Wheeling, Ill., office. He joined Cole Taylor Bank in 1986 as an assistant vice president and was promoted to vice president in the same year and to senior vice president in 1994, a title he retains.

Cole Taylor Bank has $2 billion of assets.


Terre Haute First National Bank in Indiana has promoted Diane Dean to installment loan operations officer.Ms. Dean was a credit supervisor. She joined the bank in 1985 as a teller and transferred to the installment lending department in 1987. She was promoted to credit supervisor in 1993.

Terre Haute First National, a subsidiary of First Financial Corp., has $1.2 billion of assets.


WESTBay View Capital Corp. in San Mateo, Calif., has hired former American Express executive Mark Cornwell to be senior vice president and marketing director.

Mr. Cornwell is to oversee all marketing activity in the San Francisco Bay area and to lead the Internet banking initiative.

He was director of sales and client management for the California market of American Express Co. Earlier he held the same posts in its New York and New Jersey markets. He had 15 years of marketing experience at American Express.

Bay View Capital has $6 billion of assets.


SOUTHWESTImperial Bank has promoted Kim Easter to vice president in the treasury management division of its Arizona regional office in Phoenix.

Ms. Easter is to consult with businesses to analyze their cash management needs; she reports to Ed Zito, regional vice president for Arizona.

She was an assistant vice president and cash management sales officer. She joined the bank in 1999 after being a treasury management sales officer in Bank One's Phoenix office. Before that she worked 15 years at First Interstate Bank of Arizona, most recently as a cash management administrator.

Imperial Bank, the principal subsidiary of Los Angeles-based Imperial Bancorp, has $6 billion of assets.


Community Bank in Santa Fe, N.M., has named Richard Mah and Greig Porter to its board of directors.Mr. Mah is program director for industrial business development at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Before joining the lab 25 years ago, he was a senior research engineer at C.F. Braun in Alhambra, Calif.

Mr. Porter is president of Porter Associates Inc., which owns and operates Santa Fe Dry Goods.

Community Bank has $136 million of assets.
