Fed Acts Against Sterling of Spokane

The Federal Reserve said it reached an agreement with Sterling Financial Corp. in Spokane that requires the bank holding company to strengthen its risk management and capital positions.

The agreement, announced Thursday, also prohibits Sterling Financial from declaring or paying dividends without the Fed's prior consent and requires it to submit a contingency funding plan identifying potential sources of liquidity.
