Fifth Third buys 8 branches from CSF.

CINCINNATI -- Fifth Third Bancorp said it completed its acquisition of the deposits and facilities ofeighi Equitable Savings branches in Ohio from CSF Holdings Inc. of Miami for about $12 million.

The branches, with deposits totaling $305 million, are being merged into Fifth Third's Cincinnati, Columbus, and southern Ohio banks.

The new banking centers opened Monday, complete with drive-through facilities and Fifth Third's Jeanie automated teller machines.

Fifth Third recently entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Mutual Federal Savings Bank and its three offices in Miamisburg and Centerville, which would be added to its Dayton-area network. The bank also expects to complete the acquisitions of National Bancorp of Kentucky, with six offices, in June; and Cumberland Savings, Bank of Louisville, with 45 offices, in the third quarter.

CSF said it will complete the sale of the balance of its Ohio operations to Charter One Bank of Cleveland on Friday.
