Financial firm sales buoy software maker.

Software developer American Management Systems last week announced higher first-quarter earnings and revenues, largely due to higher sales to financial firms, company officials said.

Net income for the period ended March 31 was $7.9 million, up from $6.4 million from the year-earlier quarter.

Financial services revenues were $18.5 million, up 27%.
