First Alabama Buys Branches in Georgia

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - First Alabama Banchshares said it acquired three banking offices in Columbus, Ga., formerly operated by Fulton Federated Savings Association.

Units of Fulton Federal, which had been operated in conservatorship by the Resolution Trust Corp., were sold to various institutions.

First Alabama said the acquisition added about $110 million in deposits and $400,000 in loans to its existing assets.
