First National Of New England Promotes CFO To President

First National Bank of New England, in Hartford, Conn., has promoted chief financial officer Leslie A. Galbraith to the additional posts of president and chief operating officer.

The bank is a subsidiary of $252.3 million-asset First International Bancorp.

Ms. Galbraith, 37, joined First National in 1990 as a senior vice president and CFO, and became an executive vice president of the holding company in 1992. Earlier she was a senior audit manager at Coopers & Lybrand in Hartford.

She succeeded Brett N. Silvers as president of the bank and Brian J. Charlebois as chief operating officer and head of lending.

Mr. Silvers, 43, remains chairman and CEO of the bank and chairman, president, and CEO of First International Bancorp. Mr. Charlebois, an executive vice president, will head the bank's newly created investment banking division.

First National also hired Frank P. La Monaca as chief administrative officer, a newly created post, and an executive vice president. He had been a senior vice president at Dime Financial Corp. of Wallingford, Conn., which was acquired by Hubco Inc. of Mahwah, N.J., in August.
