BOTHELL, Wash. -- First of Omaha Merchant Processing, a division of First National Bank of Omaha, will be the first bank in the country to offer small retailers access to a data base of bad-check writers at the point of sale. The company that supplies the data base, Electronic Transaction Corp., announced the program on Monday.
The check loss prevention service, called Scan, is currently available only to retail stores with annual sales greater than $50 million. The briefs were compiled from staff and wire reports.
