First Union Hitting the Course to Promote Its New Florida Golf Card

First Union First Union Corp. is hawking its new Florida Golf MasterCard at three Professional Golfers' Association Senior Tour events: the Royal Caribbean in Key Biscayne, through Sunday; the Intelenet Challenge in Naples, Feb. 5-11, and the GTE Classic in Tampa, Feb. 12-18.

First Union National Bank, Jacksonville, Fla., will hold drawings and giveaways for prizes. Cardholders earn discounts on cart and greens fees at more than 100 golf courses in Florida.

The card, with a $25 annual fee, carries an introductory fixed annual percentage rate of 8.9% for the first six months - after which the rate will become prime plus 5.9%.

First Union Corp. completed its previously announced merger with First Fidelity Bancorp. on Jan. 1. The Charlotte, N.C.-based banking company is the nation's sixth-largest, with assets of about $132 million.
