MGIC Investment Corp., the biggest U.S. mortgage insurer, was downgraded by Fitch Inc. Thursday after posting its ninth straight quarterly loss.

"Capital adequacy is a particular area of concern" for the Milwaukee company, Fitch said in cutting MGIC's debt rating to B-minus from B.
