FleetBoston Financial said Monday that Henrique de Campos Meirelles, its president of Global Banking and Financial Services, will take on the added responsibility of serving as Fleet's senior executive in the New York-New Jersey market.
Word of Mr. Meirelles' assignment came in conjunction with an announcement by Fleet of an expansion of its executive offices in New York. Mr. Meirelles will retain responsibility for areas that include corporate and investment banking, investment services, global markets, and international banking.
"Both Fleet's international operations and the New York market are of growing importance to us," said Fleet chairman and chief executive Terrence Murray in a statement.
