Freddie names Foster, posts 25% EPS gain.

Freddie Mac on Oct. 19 promoted Emily Leebron Foster to the post of vice president-corporate planning and control. She will oversee corporate processes and initiatives related to strategic and operational planning, cost management, management reporting and internal controls.

Foster joined Freddie in 1992 from Deloitte & Touche. Until the promo-tion, she was a director in the office of the president.

The announcement came two days after Freddie declared its earnings per common share rose to $1.29 for the third quarter, up 25% from the year-earlier period. Earnings per common share the first nine months of the year likewise have grown 25%, to $3.78 from $3.03. Net income totaled $249 million, the same as for the second quarter but up sharply from the $200 million posted in the third quarter of 1993.
