French to Maintain Lending to Greece

French banks have agreed to maintain their lending to Greece after a request from the French government, a person close to the banks said Monday.

They have agreed to maintain loans to both the Greek government and the Greek economy, the person said.

The move came as governments across Europe sought to shore up private-sector support for the $145 billion bailout package for Greece announced Sunday.
